ALDEN - Governor Kirk Paul recently announced that he plans on working with the State legislature to criminalize weed, something that has been legal in Mesa, since 1965. The Governor said that he is "concerned that the drug trafficking will turn into an epidemic to a scale that won't be easy to fix."
The State of Mesa, has been pro-marijuana since 1965 when Gov. Vincent Bushaldi signed weed legalization bill, which passed unanimously in both houses of the State's Assembly.
During the process to legalize weed, many hurtles to prevent the legislation from being passed were over come, but a process to protect the newly formed legislation wasn't even considered. Many weed smokers are affraid that all the weed they possess will need to go back to the State.
Others think Gov. Paul is crazy. Gov. Paul says that he plans to only ban the sale of the weed, and any existing weed on the market will be okay until November 25, 2030, that is when a total ban on weed would take place.
